Volunteers sought for Children and Families Group
Haemophilia Scotland is looking for volunteers to serve on our new ‘Children & Families Group’. This is one of our key ‘frontline’ groups that will help arrange family get-togethers and other events where families can meet, share experiences, support each other and, importantly, help organise local fundraising events that are so important to small charities such as ours.
Among potential activities that have been identified for the ‘Children & Families Group’ to organise over the coming year are: a Family Day (or weekend); a weekend to support and advise newly diagnosed families; and a Children’s Activity weekend for 8-12 year olds.
Leading this group at present are Carolyn McGimpsey from Tranent (East Lothian) and Susan Warren from Inverness, who both have personal experience of living with a bleeding disorder in the family. Carolyn and Susan also currently serve on Haemophilia Scotland’s management committee.
This kind of volunteer support is absolutely vital in helping us to reach out to haemophilia families throughout the country, and to offer opportunities for people to get involved in things like local fundraising without having to be part of a formal group, such as Haemophilia Scotland’s management committee.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Children & Families Group, please get in touch with Carolyn McGimpsey via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
