Join us for the Diagnose Malawi Walk and Picnic
On 17th July, we will be heading out to Blantyre for a picnic and walk to support the Diagnose Malawi Project. Our initial exploration at the David Livingstone Centre, showed it to be a great a day out for all.
The starting point will be The David Livingstone Centre, we will have a brief EGM meeting, then start the picnic in the grounds, where there are some picnic benches (with room booked inside the centre, just in case!). There are parking spaces at the centre and no steps involved in the walking routes. There is also a children’s play area, toilet facilities, a café and shop (with ice cream possibilities!).
There will be two walks, both heading in the direction of beautiful Bothwell Castle.
The shorter walk will last 1 hour, walking 30 mins to Bothwell Castle, and 30 mins back to the David Livingstone Centre.
The longer walk will last for roughly 3 hours, walking 90 mins to Newton Farm, and 90 mins to return back to The David Livingstone Centre.
The paths are slightly uneven and raised at points, but all firm ground, with some stunning views.
For anyone who would prefer not do a walk, the lovely explorer’s garden is accessible and a great place for taking photos and chilling out. There are also opportunities for short strolls around the grounds of the David Livingstone centre.
Everyone is very welcome and we would love to see you there. If you would like to do a fundraising walk, you can sign up here: https://campaign.justgiving.com/charity/haemophilia-scotland/Malawi
In case of rain, we will have some Haemophilia Scotland umbrellas with us, as endorsed by our Chair, Bill!
