Alex Whitteker’s Biography

Our Operations Manager, Alex, comes to Haemophilia Scotland with an extensive background in working with people in various sectors. He has worked across the globe in the education, horticultural, non-profit and insurance sectors, engaging with various people face-to-face and via marketing communications.

He has experience working in the non-profit sector, having been an intern at the national offices of Save the Children New Zealand and UNICEF New Zealand, where he managed the online shop and contributed to the organisations’ communications response to the Syrian Civil War and the Ebola Crisis which raised both awareness and funds for the people most at need.

Alex is zealous about people and networking. Outside of work, he gives his time to a local charity where he is a Volunteer Befriender to newcomers (refugees and migrants). You’ll often find him in the outdoors with his mates – up a munro, out for a run or on his bike.

Hailing from New Zealand, Alex’s zest for people is inspired by a Maori proverb: He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata What is the most important thing in the world? It is the people, it is the people, it is the people.
