Draft Proposals from the Infected Blood Scottish Financial Support Review Group

On Saturday, the Infected Blood: Scottish Financial Support Review Group held its All-Scotland consultation meeting in Perth.

Those who attended the meeting heard presentations of the Terms of Reference, the Scottish Infected Blood Forum Scoping Exercise, and the consultation exercise.  They also saw the current draft of the proposed recommendations from The Group to the Scottish Government, due to be made by the end of this month.

We have also published a new page on our website to make it easier for people to keep up to date with the work of The Group.

  1. Hi
I am new to all this and don’t really understand a lot and if I am entitled to anything.
My mum died in 2011 with hepatacellular carcinoma due to a blood transfusion she needed when having a hysterectomy in 1980s diagnosed with HCV roundabout 2000

The draft proposal includes a discretionary grants fund which will be open to the children of people who have been infected in the contaminated blood disaster. The partners of people who have died as a result of their infection would also be entitled to a pension. I hope that is clearer.

  2. If there is no partner of the infected diseased person then shouldn’t the equivalent Widows ‘ pension be paid to the Estates of the deceased? Why is it that single people are being treated differently? Or is this already something that happens? Thank you for all your help Dan. I am not Haemophiliac but the society have continued to be extremely helpful and I very much appreciate it. Xx
