Get involved this World Haemophilia Day!

April 17, 2022 is World Haemophilia Day. The theme of the event this year is “Access for All: Partnership. Policy. Progress. Engaging your government, integrating inherited bleeding disorders into national policy“. By raising awareness and bringing haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders to the attention of policymakers, we can increase sustainable and equitable access to care and treatment.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Due to changes Facebook have made, we cannot create our own new Haemophilia Scotland World Haemophilia Day frame for profile pictures. We recommend downloading and using the frame the WFH have made.

The World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH) have created some fantastic social media materials to help spread the word about the big day.

Check out the WFH’s social media toolkit where you can download content for your social media profiles to help raise awareness! (Scroll down and select “social media tools”)

WRITE TO YOUR MP/MSP

The WFH have created a helpful advocacy toolkit with instructions on how to write a letter to a government official. (Scroll down and select “advocacy toolkit”)

Use Write to Them to find out who your MP/MSP is in your area and write to them to raise awareness of issues you face as someone affected by a bleeding disorder so they can help shape policy.

DONATE

As part of this year’s World Haemophilia Day events, we are running a campaign to raise funds to help us continue the work we do to support, inform and advocate for Scotland’s bleeding disorders community.

In light of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and in solidarity with our international bleeding disorders community, we will donate 50% of the proceeds of this campaign to the EHCs Emergency Displacement Fund. The EHC’s Emergency Displacement Fund (EDF) will support NMOs, charities and other organisations who are dealing with the direct displacement of people with a bleeding disorder and their families in situations of armed conflict.

ATTEND OUR WORLD HAEMOPHILIA DAY EVENT

We are marking the day with the launch of our Women’s Group art exhibition, “HaemophilARTS; Bloody Good” at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow, 1:00pm-3:00pm on Sunday 17th April (Easter Sunday)

Mark your diaries now and register to attend! This event will be in-person only with a maximum capacity of 50 people.

We’ll be upstairs in the Studio (Accessible by lift) and will hear from some inspiring guest speakers. There will be an opportunity to mix and mingle when checking out the exhibition. The schedule for the event will be forthcoming and we will share with everyone who registers for this event closer to the time.

There won’t be a crèche available, but if this will prohibit you from attending, please let Alex know (alex@haemophilia.scot) to see if we can find a solution.
