Thanks to The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (The ALLIANCE) and the support of their Self-Management Impact Fund we were able to run a pilot Parent Mentoring Project. The project tested the idea that young families in Scotland would benefit from having someone with a little more experience of living with a bleeding disorder in the family to talk to.
We recruited and trained a fantastic group of mentors who are still mentoring the families they got to know during the pilot. The project was particularly successful and increasing confidence in the management of bleeding disorders and reducing stress in the family. All the mentors report that they have got a lot out of the experience too.
