Maxie Cobern-Burke’s Biography

Maxie has worked in benefits and welfare rights for around twenty years, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in this sector.

Starting her benefits career with Tax Credits when they were launched in 2003, she then started working in Welfare Rights where she gained experience in supporting her service users with all types of benefit queries, assisting them with applications through to representing them at appeals. Maxie has experience working in many different projects including reducing homelessness, heat or eat, and resettlement of Syrian refugees. The past two years have been spent in the third sector as an Advocacy Officer covering the East of Scotland, working with patients with chronic and inherited health issues.

Maxie likes to use a holistic approach when assisting people with queries. She will ensure that where sha can not offer assistance she will signpost to someone who can.

Maxie enjoys outdoor pursuits with her family and dog, often exploring Scotland’s beautiful countryside with the Cairngorms on her doorstep.
