Earlier today, we received confirmation that the Infected Blood Support Schemes (IBSS) have re-opened applications for newly bereaved partners.
This follows the UK Government’s acceptance of Recommendation 9a of the Infected Blood Inquiry’s Additional Report on 21 July 2025. This will allow newly bereaved partners of infected individuals who died after 31 March 2025 to receive ongoing support payments from IBSS, in the same format as those made to bereaved partners previously.
The Government has also provided a factsheet, including FAQs, to help explain the process and eligibility.
