Earlier today, the UK Government published its response to the UK Infected Blood Inquiry on the Gov.uk website. The publication provides an update on the UK and Devolved Governments’ progress in addressing each of the 12 recommendations from the Inquiry’s final report.
The publication can be read in full here.
Of the 12 recommendations, Recommendations 1, 2, and 3 have been fully accepted, with details of their implementation progress outlined in the document.
The remaining recommendations have also been accepted; however, some aspects are only accepted “in principle.” This means the underlying reasoning has been acknowledged, but further work is needed to assess the implications of implementing them as outlined in the Inquiry’s report.
The UK Government has committed to providing a further update on the recommendations accepted in principle by May 2025. The Scottish Government and other Devolved Administrations have contributed to the publication, addressing areas where the recommendations fall under their jurisdiction.
As the response is comprehensive, Haemophilia Scotland will take time to fully review the contents and will share any updates on our website in due course.
