The IBCA has recently updated its claims calculator. Those affected through a relationship with someone who is infected, or those wishing to make a claim on behalf of an estate of an infected person, can now obtain an estimate of their compensation entitlement.
The IBCA are not yet inviting submission of claims from the affected, but are working on developing the systems to allow them to do this.
The affected include parents, partners or widows of the infected, siblings of the infected and children of the infected. It also includes unpaid carers. To see further information about these categories click here.
Entitlements vary depending on which category you fall into. The table here shows what each category may have an entitlement to if you fulfil the appropriate criteria. Individuals may have a right to claim through more than one route e.g. as an infected person who is also affected by their partner.
Equally someone may be affected in multiple ways. Where there are multiple relationships e.g. as a sibling and as a carer each needs to be calculated separately and then a manual adjustment made to the figures calculated. A further update to the calculator is expected to be released in a few weeks which will avoid the need for manual calculation. For now you need to follow instructions on the IBCA web site at the following address:

The calculator and an explanation of how it works can be found at this link on the IBCA website: https://ibca.org.uk/estimate-your-compensation
If there are multiple family members who have the same relationship with the infected wanting to obtain an estimate, you may find it helpful to work through the calculator together so that you can check the information being input and make sure you are all entering the same information.
A You Tube video is also available to talk you through use of the calculator
