Members’ Day & AGM at Edinburgh Zoo

On Saturday 30th August, our Scottish bleeding disorders community gathered at Edinburgh Zoo for this year’s Members’ Day and AGM.

The day began in the Zoo’s Education Centre, where members caught up with one another over teas and coffees before the AGM got underway. For some families, it was the first chance to reconnect since our Recently-Diagnosed Weekend in June. As always, our events are designed to build and maintain our mutual support network.

During the AGM, members heard updates from John Dearden, Thomas Lorenz, and Alan Martin on the charity’s work and finances, followed by a chance to ask questions and share views.

Afterwards, we made our way to Lemur Lodge, where the Zoo’s catering team provided lunch bags and plenty of time for conversation. In the afternoon, members enjoyed a guided tour of the zoo, with highlights including an overload of cuteness from the koalas and the unforgettable roar of the lions. We were lucky—the rain held off until the very end of the day!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and to those who appointed a proxy in their absence—your voice was heard, and your support means so much to our community.

Finally, we are grateful to Edinburgh Zoo for welcoming us so warmly and for arranging the guided tours. It was a truly memorable day!
