Since people with bleeding disorder in Scotland first discovered that they had been infected with blood borne viruses including HIV and Hepatitis C in the 1970s and 1980s there has been a campaign for justice and truth.
Many people who were infected and members of their families have fought tirelessly to find if anything could have been done to prevent any of the infections and for proper compensation and support. Sadly, many of those people have sadly died and are still deeply missed by their families, friends and the wider community.
In 1999 the new Scottish Parliament meant that there was a new focus for the Scottish contaminated blood campaign. This marked the beginning of a new phase in the contaminated blood campaign in Scotland as a wide range of campaigners engaged with the new institutions. On these pages we seek to record some of the key political developments since 1999 as a research tool primarily for campaigners, journalist and politicians.
