The haemophilia centre at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh will be saying farewell to three valued team members who are retiring in March. The Centre has shared the following statement with us.
“After an incredible 50-year journey, Angela Davanna is retiring on the 4th of March. From starting as a bright-eyed student nurse at just 16, she has risen to become a cherished Haemophilia Nurse Specialist. Angela has mentored, taught, and cared for countless patients, families, and staff members. Her immense experience and knowledge has been a guiding light for us all, and her absence will leave a void that can never truly be filled. “Long story, short”… We will deeply miss her quick wit, ridiculous forgetfulness for names, computer-phobia, sharp west-coast twang, and the unwavering compassion she brought to every single day. Never Change.
Karen Robinson will be filling Angela’s boots. Karen will already be a familiar face to many as she has been with us for over a year now.
Our beloved Advanced Haemophilia Physiotherapist, Jenny Forsyth, will be leaving us in March to embark on new adventures and explore exciting travel destinations and sporting activities. Jenny has been a cornerstone of our department for many years. Despite leaving prematurely due to funding issues, she returned with unwavering dedication to spend her final years with us.
Jenny’s gift of the gab, coupled with her intense passion and heart for her role, has made her an irreplaceable part of our team. Her creativity, hard work, and occasional sleepy moments during team meetings have endeared her to us all. Jenny, your departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt. Congratulations on 40 years of remarkable service, Jen – you truly deserve every bit of joy and adventure that lies ahead!
Jenny’s replacement is still to be confirmed.
Last but certainly not least, we celebrate Liz, our shining star domestic. With over a decade of dedicated NHS service and a lifetime filled with laughter, Liz has been truly fantastic in every way. She is the backbone of our department, the eyes and ears of all the juicy gossip, and the one who never fails to smile, chat, and brighten up everyone’s day.
Liz is a beloved face to all patients and staff within every department in OPD1. Her irreplaceable presence, unwavering dedication, boundless patience, and sharp-eye for detail has made her an integral part of our team. Finding someone with her unique blend of qualities will be an incredibly tough task.
Here’s to you, Liz. We can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done. Your impact has been immeasurable, and you will be deeply missed.”
And from the team at Haemophilia Scotland, we thank Angela, Jenny and Liz for their commitment and dedication to our bleeding disorders community over the years and wish them all the very best as they each embark on an exciting new chapter!
