The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) has now opened registration for those wishing to register their intent to claim compensation through its website.
Below is a summary of how registration works, who can register, and what will happen next.
How to Register Your Intent to Claim
You can register online via the IBCA website.
If you are unable to register online, you can call the IBCA helpdesk on 0141 471 8886 for assistance in completing the registration over the phone.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email and a personal registration number confirming your form has been successfully submitted.
Who Is Eligible to Register?
You (or your legal representative) can register through IBCA’s website if you are:
- An infected person
- An affected person
- Both infected and affected
- Acting on behalf of a deceased infected person with the required legal authority
What Happens After You Register
After registering, the IBCA will contact you once the claims process is ready to begin. They will first verify your identity and confirm your eligibility before progressing your claim. Please be aware that IBCA have advised this may take some time as they continue to build their claim process.
Registering your intent is an important first step to ensure you are included in the system. This step has been made possible thanks to strong feedback from the community to both the IBCA and the Infected Blood Inquiry earlier this year.
Haemophilia Scotland will continue to keep members informed about the compensation scheme as further details are released.
