We wanted to share this information with our members to make sure anyone who may be eligible for an interim payment through the Infected Blood Interim Estates Payment Scheme (IBIEPS) is aware of the important upcoming deadline.
People who may be eligible for an interim payment through IBIEPS are being encouraged to act now, as applications will close on 30 October 2026.
The closing date has been announced following a significant and steady decline in new applications. It will also allow the Infected Blood Support Schemes (IBSS) enough time to process all remaining applications before they close in early 2027.
If you are considering making an application on behalf of the estate of someone who has died, it is important to begin the process as soon as possible. Applications cannot be made without evidence of probate, confirmation, or letters of administration, and anyone who has not yet obtained these documents is encouraged to start that process as soon as possible.
The requirement for probate, confirmation, or letters of administration also applies to deceased infected person claims made through the Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA).
IBCA continues to expand its compensation service for infected and affected people. Individuals are encouraged to register their intent to claim with IBCA so they can begin their compensation claim as soon as their cohort becomes eligible.
Anyone who believes they may be eligible for an interim estate payment should ensure their application is submitted well before the 30 October 2026 deadline. Postal applications must be received by the relevant Infected Blood Support Scheme by that date.
