This April, Amanda Tonner and her team will be taking on the Glasgow Kiltwalk in memory of her beloved son, Jamie, to raise vital funds for Haemophilia Scotland.
Jamie sadly passed away in January this year. A proud Blantyre lad, Haemophilia was a part of Jamie’s life, but it never defined him. His mother, Amanda, shares:
“Haemophilia is a rare inherited blood disorder that has been in our family for generations. My dad was born with Haemophilia, I am a carrier, and my two sons, Jamie and Bobby, were also born with Haemophilia. It has never held them back.”
Jamie was known for his kindness, his infectious laughter, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. In his final act of generosity, Jamie became an organ donor, saving the lives of four people:
🔹 A woman in her fifties who waited over three years for a kidney transplant.
🔹 A man in his thirties who received Jamie’s other kidney after six years on the waiting list.
🔹 A man in his forties who received a pancreas islet transplant after a year of waiting.
🔹 A young man in his twenties who was given the precious gift of an urgent heart transplant.
Thanks to Jamie, these individuals now have a second chance at life.
Amanda and her loved ones are walking the Kiltwalk not only to honour Jamie’s memory but also to support Haemophilia Scotland, a cause that means so much to their family.
