KHA host successful women’s conference

On Saturday 9th October, our twinning partners, the Kenya Haemophilia Association, hosted their first ever women’s conference in Nairobi for women and girls affected by a bleeding disorder. Women from around Kenya attended and it was livestreamed to people who could not make it in person.

There were two topics on the agenda:

  1. Introduction to Women and Bleeding Disorders and von Willebrands: Sister Anguche
  2. Psychosocial Issues for Women and Girls with Bleeding Disorders: Sexual Health and Intimacy: Dr Kithinji

You are able to watch the whole conference online at the link below.

On our trip out to Kenya in February 2020, we heard firsthand of the experiences of women with bleeding disorders in Kenya and could see the need for a standalone women’s event to help build the support network of women across the country.  We hope this is the first of many women’s conferences to come!

The conference was made possible via funding through the World Federation of Haemophilia.
