Could you be a trustee of our Board?

Haemophilia Scotland is dedicated to improving the life experience of people in Scotland who are living with a bleeding disorder.  We provide a unique and vital service, combining a detailed knowledge of different conditions and their treatment within NHS Scotland with personal experience from our members.  We provide information, advocacy and support. We are a small organisation with big ambition and big demands on our resources.

We need to maximise the effectiveness of what we do. We are currently looking to recruit volunteer (unpaid) Trustees with specific skills and background to add to the board’s existing skill set.

The positions would typically involve co-option to the Board for a period up to the next AGM then the option for election for 2-3 years and involve a time commitment of no more than 2-3 hours per month.  As a National charity, many of our meetings are conducted remotely. These are non-executive roles, where you will engage closely with our 2 paid staff in developing ideas and giving advice.  You will share with other trustees overall responsibility for the good governance of the charity.

The demands on the charity over the coming years will be high as conclusions from a major public inquiry into infected blood is expected to be published next year and there are dramatic new forms of treatment for bleeding disorders coming onto the market.  We need to ensure these treatments are available equitably in Scotland.

Can you help?  If you have expertise in finance, or are a strategic thinker, have experience of media relations, could be our champion for women with bleeding disorders, or have experience of working with the elderly or children and young people, you may have the sort of skills we are looking for. See below about how to express interest.

We continue to welcome applications from the bleeding disorder community who have the above skills.

If you are interested please e-mail hello@haemophilia.scot for more information and a brief application form.  The information we send you will include contact details of existing members you can have a discussion with about the role.

Expressions of interest should be made by 26th August 2022
