Report written by our Financial Wellbeing Officer, Maxie Cobern-Burke.
Haemophilia Scotland Trustee, Carolyn, and I attended the Feisty Gals conference in the Barracks, Stirling, hosted by the Women’s Fund for Scotland on the 30th September.
The conference brought together groups and projects in Scotland that support women and girls over the age of 12. From sewing groups, to home start, to women escaping violence, it was a room full of women wanting to create better lives and futures for women all across Scotland.
I was interviewed and asked what funding from the Women’s Fund for Scotland had meant to our charity and about the projects we were able to provide to our community, such as our Female Factors conference and to the wider public, such as our educational Fresher’s week stands.
Carolyn and I were able to attend workshops to better understand funding applications and processes, how to use lived stories and humour in our media and at the very end, Kirsty Baird had us join in with a lovely tribute to Dolly Parton. Which every woman in the room gave their all to, even just on a bottle of water and a quiche.
It was a truly humbling, inspiring and wonderful event to be a part of.
